Tissues at the ready, people...
This is the emotional moment a woman was surprised by seeing her granddaughter wearing her wedding dress for her own big day.
Penny Jenson had no idea her granddaughter, Jordyn Cleverly, was planning to wear the gown for her wedding day - which Penny had first worn for her own wedding, back in 1962.
The moment was captured by Jordyn’s wedding photographer, Kortney Peterson, with the bride and her unsuspecting grandmother having a private ‘reveal’ moment shortly before Jordyn and her partner, Dakota, exchanged their vows.
Speaking to ABC News about the emotional scenario, Ms Peterson commented: “I have never done a first-look between a bride and her grandma. It was one of the most and unique moments I’ve gotten to capture”.
She added: “[Penny’s] reaction was one of the sweetest reactions I’ve ever seen. Tears were automatically brought to her eyes and she kept repeating ‘1962… Your grandfather would have loved to see this… I married my high school sweetheart in this… And now so will you’”.
Jordyn decided to don the exquisite lace gown as a tribute to her grandmother - as well as to her grandfather, who passed away before she was born.
She explained: “I wanted to pay tribute to the dress that had been sitting vacant for 55 years”.
Speaking about her grandmother’s reaction to the surprise reveal, Jordyn said: “She was completely and utterly speechless. She whispered to me, ‘I married my high school sweetheart in this dress, now so will you’. We actually started dating in middle school. It was the most spiritual and emotional moment of my life. No better way to pay tribute to the legacy of my widowed grandmother. I couldn’t be happier or more blessed”.
Wonderful, don’t you think?
