Traditionally speaking, flower girls are one of the most adorable elements of a wedding party: teeny-tiny, clad in a gorgeous little frock and scattering petals down the aisle after the bride.

However: a recently-wed couple from the US changed all that when it came to picking their flower girl.

Patrick Casey, 28, managed to persuade his bride-to-be cousin, Andria Farthing, that he should step up as 'flower man' at her wedding to beau Jake.

This man made his wife the most incredible Harry Potter inspired wedding gift

Talking to the Huffington Post, Patrick revealed: "I was lobbying to be their 'flower man' even before they were engaged. A little later, after their engagement, they honoured me by bestowing me with the duty I so craved".

The reason why?

This couple's Disney-themed wedding was total #goals

As children, Andria and Patrick were once flower girl and page boy at a family wedding, with Patrick deciding stepping up as 'flower man' could be a fun way to remind their friends and family how far they'd both come.

He explained: "I used the same flower basket that she used when we were in that wedding together as children. A good marriage includes a lot of laughing, so what's wrong with a bit of fun at your wedding with someone you both love and who loves you both?"
