15 no-fuss ways to make your wedding feel more glamorous

15 no-fuss ways to make your wedding feel more glamorous

Written by Katie Byrne

Want to add a little extra style to your wedding day? Incorporate some of these ideas into your celebration for some added wow-factor...

Serve a signature cocktail

Give guests a couple of options to pick from and add extra accessories - such as monogrammed napkins or custom stirrers - for added wow-factor.

Make an entrance

Own the spotlight by making the most of all the 'grand appearance' moments - such as when you walk into your wedding breakfast for the first time. Use music, ask a friend to play 'voice of God', perhaps even rehearse a spectacular dance... You could even follow the lead of this bride, who did something seriously extra at her reception - find out what here!

Pick calligraphy details

Brushletting and calligraphy are having a serious moment right now - and it's not hard to see why! Bump up the glam-factor by using pieces in metallic inks.

Make a statement with your florals

Flowers have the power to add some serious glamour to your wedding, whatever your budget. There are options to suit all themes and spaces - from jaw-dropping suspended displays to unbelievably beautiful installations.

Pick the perfect decorations for your tables

From the table number to the place settings and the cutlery... Get creative! Golden accents will help to keep that glamorous theme running throughout.

Use mirrors to maximise space and add ornate charm

Mirrors are your multi-tasking friend when it comes to your wedding venue. Pick designs with metallic frames for instant glamour - and bear in mind that mirrors can help to make spaces look bigger, so be strategic with where you place them!

Create a photobooth area

Whether you hire an actual photobooth or simply create an area yourself, a photobooth is a great way to get your guests mingling - as well as giving people the chance to take some truly brilliant pictures. Go for glam by using gold details - such as photoframes on the backdrop behind - or, more simply, by hanging strings of twinkling fairylights from the ceiling.

Pick carefully when it comes to the little details

We're talking wedding programmes, escort cards, favours... Every detail adds up, so regardless of whether you're tying the knot on a serious shoe-string or have a bottomless budget, make sure it all adds up. Once easy way to add a hint of luxe? Use metallics - think paint, pens or glitter - to add some low-cost, high-impact glamour.

Use statement decor to make a point

Such as a stunning light display, a breathtaking floral design, a creative photoboard... The key is to keep the look balanced: glamorous is all about making a point, without giving it over-kill. Make sure it matches the rest of your theme, too; for example, if your overall theme is leaning towards minimalistic, opt for a subtle but wow-worthy display of candles, flowers or lights. Don't be afraid to use bursts of colour, too!

Cater for every eventuality

Think ahead and make sure you plan a celebration that will help your guests feel comfortable and content all day (and night) long. For example: if your wedding date falls in the middle of autumn, stock up on cheap blankets to help guests feel cosy if the temperature dips, and consider a hot chocolate bar for the evening. Or, for nuptials held in high summer, provide a wedding programme that doubles-up as a fan and dot bottles of suncream around your venue.

Make the perfect musical choices

From the sweetest tune to accompany your walking-down-the-aisle moment to the perfect melody to accompany your first dance - make sure your playlist for the day is pitch-perfect and means something to you.

Serve up the perfect snacks in the evening

Your guests will undoubtedly begin to feel a little peckish as the evening wears on, so make sure you provide an assortment of treats for them to tuck into if the mood takes them. Want to add some glamour?

Make the most of those Mr and Mrs opportunities

Use a handful of subtle and sophisticated props and decorations to emphasise your just-married status.

Add some sparkle to your cake

Whether it's a little hand-painted edible gold leaf, edible glitter, a metallic topper...

Finish with fireworks

It's a stunning way to mark the end of your celebration, and you can be in total control of how much you do (or don't) want to spend. If you're planning on a big exit from your reception, arm your guests with sparklers - or glow-sticks, for an illuminating but heat-free send-off.
