With the average UK wedding costing upwards of £20,000, here's how to plan your dream celebration for half!
Source your wedding dress from a vintage outlet, where show-stoppers can often be found for a couple of hundred pounds, or head for the sample sales.
Go for a cheaper food option such as an afternoon tea or a picnic hamper per table.
Reduce the venue cost by marrying on a week day or out of season. A Tuesday in November is 50% cheaper than a Saturday in June.
Consider booking your photographer for half a day to secure the more formal set-up shots. Then ask friends to post their reception pics to photo-sharing app WedPics, or use a hashtag on Instagram to access them all.
Re-use ceremony flowers at the reception, and choose seasonal blooms.
Collect crockery and decor from charity shops or car boot sales throughout the year.
Honeymoons are one of the biggest parts of the wedding budget, but guests could contribute instead of buying gifts. Or they could pay for a specific experiences - from a hot air balloon ride to a round of drinks on your first night.
