It's a question every bride ponders but doesn't want to have to answer: what would you do with your wedding dress if your nuptials were called off?
The conundrum is something Mariah Carey found herself faced with when fiancé James Packer called off their nuptials in October last year - with insiders close to the couple suggesting James was unhappy with Mariah's 'extravagant spending', as well as the prospect of her new reality show, Mariah's World.
So when Mariah found herself sans fiancé and with a $250k Valentino wedding gown in tow, she did something truly fitting for her iconic diva status: she threw the luxe gown on a bonfire.
(Btw, if you think $250k - around £200k - is a fortune for a wedding dress, that's nothing compared to Mariah's engagement ring, which reportedly cost a cool $7 million.)
All in the name of art, naturally: the frock's firey end was used in the video for Mariah's latest single, I Don't.
In the vid, Mariah is initially shown fleeing from the paparazzi whilst wearing the wedding gown, which she's paired with a chic leather jacket (she's obviously seen our trend report). The superstar then changes into a figure-hugging scarlet number, and is shown dancing around an open fire before hurling the wedding gown on to the flames.
FYI, you might not want to watch the video below if you keep having nightmares about something happening to your own gown... (Although red wine stains pale into comparison to flames, of course.)
This isn't the first time Mariah's donned a bridal gown for one of her music videos: the superstar also donned one for the vid she filming for We Belong Together.
