Couple pick wedding cake made entirely of Jaffa Cakes

Couple pick wedding cake made entirely of Jaffa Cakes

No, really - and it was even designed by the same man who created Prince William's 'groom's' cake...

If you're not so keen on a traditional wedding cake, then a biscuit-y alternative could be a fabulous option to consider for your wedding day - as this real-life couple did.

When Tristan and Marie Weedon from Waltham Cross forgot to arrange a wedding cake for their nuptials, the day was saved by McVities, who arranged a truly unique creation to be designed for their reception.

MEET THE COUPLE WHO CHOSE A YORKSHIRE PUDDING WEDDING CAKE

The pair had been so immersed in planning their nuptials that they managed to over-look a key element of their celebration... The cake!

We know, right: crumbs

Luckily, McVities came to the rescue, sending Paul Courtney, their Culinary Innovation Manager, to create something truly spectacular for their nuptials.

Courtney, who famously created Prince William's 'Groom's Cake' for his 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton, designed a Jaffa Cake creation, which featured 1,000 of the zesty biscuits.

Tristan and Marie - who married on 11 November - were first approached by McVities after commenting on a Facebook post from the biscuit brand.

Kerry Owens, McVitie’s Brand Director said: “McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes have been a family favourite for generations, and we’re always looking for new ways to create special moments for our consumers. We would like to say a big thanks to Paul Courtney in creating this fantastic cake and for helping make this couple’s dream a reality. We were delighted to hear about how important McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes are to Maria and Tristan and are so pleased that we were able to help make their special day that little bit sweeter.”

In a word? Yum.
