SS17 Catwalk hair that will make you reconsider your traditional 'do

SS17 Catwalk hair that will make you reconsider your traditional 'do

Written by Sarah Tippett

If you're a fashion-forward bride-to-be looking for something dynamic for your big day hair, then it's time to get inspired by the catwalk…

Two runway shows stood our for us this fashion week just gone: Anna Sui and Reem Acra

No.1 Anna Sui SS17

At the helm of the runway hair? Super cool hair brand, R+Co, the new brand on the block that every bride needs to know about.

The Anna Sui SS17 collection was dubbed "Miss American Pie", debuting a charming mix of cowgirl and folklore-inspired looks. When it came to the hair, it was celebrity hairstylist and R+Co Co-Founder, Garren that was behind the creative, slightly Sixties-inspired looks.

We loved the relaxed texture of the styles, just perfect for the on-point bride that's looking for something a little different from the traditional bridal hair we've seen so often take to the aisle. Some of the models showcased amazing natural texture, their curls enhanced with R+Co's TWISTER Curl Primer

So, if natural texture or a soft, slightly Sixties-inspired look is for you, why not pair with the below gowns? The SS17 Anna Sui hair vibe will work just perfectly for the relaxed, bohemian bride…

SHOP: Grace Loves Lace; Jenny Packham; Halfpenny London

Want to get the look?

Follow this step-by-step guide from R+Co…

#1 Prep hair with CACTUS Texturizing Shampoo for body, texture and movement.

#2 Create a low side part and swoop the hair over the forehead.

#3 Apply a product like CHIFFON Styling Mousse or DALLAS Thickening Spray, and tease hair at the crown to create a rough, but not huge, texture.

#4 Gather the top half of the hair in the back of the head to create a modern beehive and secure with pins to hold the shape.

#5 Finish with OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray to keep the style in place.

No.2 Reem Acra SS17

The second show to catch our attention was Reem Acra's Spring/Summer'17 showcase.

The designer label's romantic tulle creations and dreamy pastels were complimented beautifully by soft, tousled curls in an alluring up-do.

Inspired by the ideas of a secret garden, the hair definitely needed to reflect the whimsical nature of the line, and R+Co's Educator and Lead Stylist, Thom Priano, certainly did just that.

Effortlessly creating a soft, pulled-bag style, models flaunted super soft curls and on-point volume, ideal if you're a bride looking for a look that works with a tulle or lace gown.

Pair Reem Acra SS17-inspired hair with the below enchanting gowns…

SHOP: Justin Alexander; Hayley Paige; Suzanne Harward.

Want to get the look?

Follow this step-by-step guide from R+Co…

#1 Prep hair with GRID Structural Setting Spray throughout.

#2 Curl small sections with a mini curling iron. Pin to set and cool for a natural curl texture.

#3 Brush hair out.

#4 Tease 1-inch sections throughout to create a base for the style.

#5 Pull hair back into a tight french twist, leaving the front a bit loose. Pull at the top to make an abstract shape.

#6 Spray entire head with OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray for hold and apply CONTINENTAL Glossing Wax for separation.

#7 Depending on hair type, use FOIL Frizz + Static Control Spray or TINSEL Smoothing Oil as needed.
