Crystal and Nick combined rustic with a touch of glitz for their barn setting
Crystal, 31, an operations manager, and Nick, 29, a financial analyst, married at Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, Philadelphia.
We chose an old restored barn and farmhouse as our venue - the surrounding woodland and flowers in full bloom made an idyllic, fairytale backdrop.
We wanted a fun and relaxed atmosphere with a rustic theme, so we incorporated lots of woodland-style touches, including mason jars, hessian tablecloths and tree-trunk cuttings.
I tried on several dresses, but it was my Pronovias gown which truly made me feel like a bride. For me, it was the perfect balance of traditional and modern, while its fitted shape added an element of glamour. I held a bouquet of peonies, succulents, tillandsia, garden roses and senecio.
Our reception area was white, bright and filled with natural sunlight, and to add to the ambience we chose a palette of coral, grey and gold for the decor.
We used hessian to cover our tables and incorporated sparkly gold table numbers and a glittery cake topper for a touch of glitz.
We transferred the floral decor from the ceremony to our reception and used it to decorate our sweetheart table.
Then we displayed our flowers in mismatched vases, placed on tree-trunk cuttings. For our favours, we gave our guests passion flower seeds with an enclosed note, reading: 'Let love grow'.
Nick and I met on Thanksgiving, so to make that special moment a part of our big day, we placed wishbone favours on our guests' chairs, quite like the bones you'd get in a turkey, and asked them to break them while they made a wish for us, after we said 'I do'.
Our bespoke cocktails were called The Blushing Bride - a refreshing pomegranate mojito - and The Grinning Groom, which was whisky mixed with ginger syrup, ginger beer and lemon juice.
My favourite moment: Nick is a fan of baseball, so I surprised him with his very own Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap-shaped cake, and the look on his face was priceless.
My tip for brides-to-be: Be sure to invest in a professional photographer and - if the budget allows - hire a wedding videographer. Your photos are so important, it's a great way to preserve memories of such a special day.
Steal their style!
